M531U2 is based on an QCA9531 SoC from Qualcomm, which is an extremely versatile CPU. It is an ideal module to attach to the baseboard to work as a low cost router, gateways or access points. Also with its high transmit power, it is also suitable to use as a long range point to point access point.
It comes with an on-board radio supporting 802.11bgn (2x2 MiMo) reaching 300Mbps data rate. USB 3.0, I2S, UART, GPIO, PCIe, 2 Ethernet ports can all be pinned out to the baseboard. It can become a dual concurrent radio by adding a 5GHz miniPCIe radio, or become a 5G router by attaching a LTE wireless module on the miniPCIe slot.
